A question often asked by those who want to play the piano, but can not afford to buy one, "you can learn to play the keyboard instead?" The answer is clear and uncompromising: "Yes, sure." Although the piano in real terms prices in recent years have come, it is certainly true that electronic keyboards are still a lot cheaper. The purpose of this article is to examine the main differences between them and the advantages and disadvantages of each.

The firstwhat is to be noted however, that an electronic keyboard instrument is often shorter, because it contains less notes of a piano.

Most digital and acoustic pianos have 88 keys.

The electronic keyboard, in contrast, may be as little as 61 keys. There is nothing wrong with that, but it's embarrassing when you begin then to a full size instrument to play.

Let us first look at the benefits of electronic keyboard:

1 The most obvious is that they usuallysmaller and more mobile than their full-size counterparts.

2 You can use a variety of different sounds.

3 They have an input for headphones, so you do not, your neighbors or other family members, while interfering with the practice.

4 They have a whole range of other electronic inputs, such as MIDI, that a number of different software programs, among other things, allow you to play what you write and play just to make their own music.

5In essence, electronic keyboards just another type of computer and interactive with all the advantages of modern technology

So what are the drawbacks?

1 A piano keyboard is not designed to be a piano, but is rather an instrument designed to sound like a

2 Because their aim is to imitate sounds, it is unlikely an authentic piano voices available on this type of instrument

3 Many electronic keyboards have weighted keys or any key answerthe touch of a finger, so it is not possible to express the mood of a song on a

4 While the shorter keyboard could play perfectly adequate for most of the music you want, you can limit the space for improvisation, how to improve your game.

There is no reason why you should learn not to play the piano on an electronic keyboard. You can learn the basics and many of your favorite songs and music on an instrument of this type, but inIn the long term should benefit both from a real or digital piano. And the prices of the two coming down.

Obviously, the best tool is going on your ambitions as musicians, the music, you want to play and how much you can afford. If you just want to play your favorite songs, pop, an electronic keyboard can be just the tool you need.

But if your goals are ambitious, then either a digital piano or a modern piano (perhaps with 76 keyskeep the cost) is a much better tool for learning.

You can only spend a few hundred dollars for a first-proof keyboard, move your potential as a pianist, and then in a most appropriate tool, if you think you have the ability, from beginners to the highest level of play.
